Indivisible Brooklyn, also known as Indivisible BK, is a local affiliate of the Indivisible Project (Indivisible), a left-of-center advocacy coalition headquartered in Washington, D.C., and created in late 2016 as a response to the first election of President Donald Trump. 1 2 3
Indivisible BK released an open letter on March 13, 2025 “demanding” that Maya Kornberg, a Democratic primary candidate for New York City Council, refund campaign contributions she received from donors who also had donated to President Trump. The letter stated that Kornberg had received $8,650 in contributions from billionaire donors who had donated money to President Trump. 4
Indivisible BK, in June 2023, denounced a bipartisan New York City Council resolution that created an “End Jew Hatred Day” to oppose rising antisemitism in New York. According to the Washington Free Beacon, Indivisible BK stated on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the “’End Jew Hatred’ bill was a total farce and is dangerous.” Indivisible BK stated that one of the two members of the Democratic Party who voted against the resolution was “right to oppose it.” 5
Background
Indivisible Brooklyn, also known as Indivisible BK, is a local affiliate of the Indivisible Project (Indivisible), a left-of-center advocacy organization headquartered in Washington, D.C., and created in late 2016 as a response to the first election of President Donald Trump. The Indivisible Project was established to provide left-of-center voters a practical guide for “Resisting the Trump Agenda.” 6 2 3 7
Indivisible BK is a volunteer-led group that advocates for left-of-center policies by conducting letter and phone campaigns, hosting rallies and demonstrations, and organizing meetings with elected officials. The group stated on its website as of 2025 that it “plans actions to pressure” federal, state, and local officials. 8
The group’s website also noted that it takes part in elections by endorsing candidates and supporting said candidates by canvassing, mailing postcards, phone banking, and text banking. Indivisible BK states that its electoral team organizes “nonstop to build progressive power at every level of government” in primaries and general elections. 8
Indivisible BK also organizes rallies, protests, and other demonstrations. The organization states it has “organized and co-sponsored large marches,” like the No Kings march, a left-of-center protest against President Donald Trump and his policies during his second term. 8
Indivisible BK receives money from “endorsing members,” people who attend three Indivisible BK events in six months, who make an annual contribution to the group, and from donations that are processed by ActBlue Civics, the 501(c)(4) arm of the left-of-center pass-through political action committee ActBlue and its 501(c)(3) pass-through affiliate ActBlue Charities. 9 3

Kornberg Letter
Indivisible BK released an open letter on March 13, 2025, “demanding” that Maya Kornberg, a Democratic primary candidate for New York City Council, refund campaign contributions she received from donors who also donated to President Donald Trump. The letter states that Kornberg received $8,650 in campaign contributions from billionaire donors who had donated money to President Trump. 4
Indivisible BK demanded that the donations be refunded and that Kornberg explain why she accepted the campaign donations. The letter also states that Kornberg should be joining Indivisible BK in “taking the fight to MAGA Republicans” and returning the donations, or the group would “conclude” that Kornberg agrees with “MAGA politics.” 4
Jamaal Bowman Endorsement
Indivisible BK endorsed the re-election campaign of then-U.S. Representative Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) in March 2024. Bowman, a member of the Democratic Party, stated on social media that groups like Indivisible BK were “crucial in ensuring that everyday people are actually represented in our democracy,” adding that he was “honored to have their endorsement and continue working with them.” 5 10
Jamaal Bowman, the candidate endorsed by Indivisible BK, had accused Israel of “mass murder,” “genocide,” and “ethnic cleansing,” after Hamas’ October 7th attack on Israel. 5
“End Jew Hatred Day” Opposition
Indivisible BK denounced a bipartisan New York City Council resolution in June 2023 that created an “End Jew Hatred Day” to oppose rising antisemitism in New York.
