BOLD PAC, also known as Committee for Hispanic Causes-BOLD PAC, is a left-of-center political action committee dedicated to supporting the election of Hispanic and Latino Democratic U.S. Representatives and Senators. ^{1 2}

Background

BOLD PAC is the political action wing of the Democratic Committee for Hispanic Causes, led by United States Representative Linda Sanchez (D-CA). BOLD PAC claims to be the fastest-growing Democratic PAC dedicated to promoting ethnic diversity in U.S. Congressional leadership. It prioritizes support for left-wing Latino and Hispanic Democratic incumbents and challengers. ^{3 4}

BOLD PAC appears to be the public-facing name of the organization’s trade name, Bold Democrats. While Federal Election Commission records indicate that while a group under the name “Bold Democrats” has not provided any political donations since 2018 and was terminated, the Bold PAC website was copyrighted in 2025 by Bold Democrats. ^{5 6}

Translation Tool

To promote its left-of-center agenda to Hispanic voters, BOLD PAC developed the BOLD Translate tool which translates English into Spanish-language political messaging about abortion, health care, the economy, and voting. ⁷

Members

BOLD PAC lists over 40 members on its website, including Representative Linda Sanchez (D-CA); U.S. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM), and Alex Padilla (D-CA); and Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA), among others. ⁴

Political Endorsements and Spending

2024 Election Cycle

During the 2024 general election cycle, BOLD PAC spent over $4.1 million to support Latino Democratic incumbents and challengers. BOLD PAC’s largest expenditure that cycle was $1.2 million which it spent on ads to boost then-U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego’s (D-AZ) Senate campaign. The PAC has also spent in key U.S. House races, including $500,000 to then-U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo’s (D-CO) race, $600,000 in U.S. Rep. Vicente Gonzalez’s (D-TX) race, $600,000 for U.S. Rep. Andrea Salinas’s (D-OR) race, $600,000 for U.S. Rep. Gabe Vasquez’s (D-NM) race, and $160,000 in U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez’s (D-WA) race. The group also backed non-incumbent U.S. House candidates, spending $270,000 to support Democrat Sam Liccardo in California’s 16th District and $125,000 to help Democrat Tony Vargas in Nebraska. ³

OpenSecrets reported that through its affiliates, BOLD PAC spent $687,802 in campaign and PAC contributions and $5,665,959 in outside spending during the 2024 election cycle. ⁸ Overall, the total amount BOLD PAC raised during the election cycle was $18,450,000 and the total spent was $17,840,000. ⁹ All BOLD PAC 2024 contributions went to Democrats. ¹⁰

2020 Election Cycle

According to OpenSecrets, during the 2020 election cycle, BOLD PAC made $5,027,199 in contributions through its affiliates. It also had $1,969,751 in outside spending during that cycle. The top candidates and PACs to which it donated were: the Senate Majority PAC ($250,000); the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee ($157,269); the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee ($104,317); the DNC Services Corp ($59,095); unsuccessful California candidate Christy Smith (D) ($18,000); and unsuccessful Texas candidate Candace Valenzuela (D) ($15,000). ¹¹

In total, during the 2020 election cycle, BOLD PAC raised approximately $18,060,000 and spent approximately $15,020,000. ¹² All BOLD PAC 2020 contributions went to Democrats. ¹³

Leadership

U.S. Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA) is the chairwoman of the BOLD PAC. She represents California’s 38th Congressional District. Sánchez is co-chair of the Labor Caucus and serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means where she works on tax, trade, retirement security, and healthcare issues. She has also served as acting head of the U.S. delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, where she worked with representatives from other NATO countries on climate change initiatives and combating terrorism. ¹⁴

During that same timeframe, BOLD PAC reported $18,452,916 in total donations raised, $17,841,399 total spent on candidates and campaigns, and $5,665,959 spent on independent expenditures. ⁸
