The Blue Anchor Project is a Democratic Super PAC formed in late 2024 to pressure Democratic members of the U.S. Congress to adopt further-left policy positions and oppose Republican candidates. The PAC has a geographic focus on the northeast United States, with a particular focus on criticizing U.S. Rep. Jared Golden’s (D-ME) support for tariffs and other policy stances. The PAC shared plans to engage in 47 congressional districts in the Northeast in the 2026 election cycle. Much of its activity since its founding has been around organizing events targeting members of the U.S. Congress, dubbed “empty chair town halls” and participating in the June 2025 No Kings protests against the second Trump administration. 1 2 3 4
Background
The Blue Anchor Project was formed following the November 2024 elections. The group is organized as an independent expenditure-only super PAC, which is permitted to raise unlimited sums of money and is prohibited from explicitly coordinating with candidate campaign committees. 5 6
Activity
The first statement from the Blue Anchor Project was a joint statement with New Digital Now (NDN), a Democratic Party-aligned media and data organization, targeting “systemic failures of the Democratic Party’s consultant class and elite leadership.” The statement stated that the Democratic Party has “lost its way” and blamed the party elite for failing Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign by “ignoring grassroots voices and relying on flawed data.” The groups also stated that in 2024, the party elites and consultant class “pressured a sitting president off the ticket with bad information and political threats, only to reuse the same broken strategies and set Kamala Harris up for a devastating loss.” 7
The PAC has detailed an activity plan to oppose “Republican extremists” and push Democratic incumbents in the northeast to embrace further-left policy positions. The group has stated plans to host town hall events in all 47 U.S. Congressional districts in the northeast and to register new Democratic voters in communities that the group describes as being out of touch with mainstream Democrats. 8
U.S. Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME) is a frequent subject of the group criticism of Democratic candidates. 9 The group released a statement opposing U.S. Rep. Golden’s stance on tariffs that stated, “The Blue Anchor Project is forcefully responding to Rep. Jared Golden’s proposed universal 10% tariff law, calling the policy an ‘economic gut-punch to working families everywhere’ and a ‘complete abandonment of public accountability.’” 4
The group also criticized U.S. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), stating that “While bold leaders like Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) fight tooth and nail to speak hard truths — often facing criticism for doing so — Jeffries has elevated questionable figures like Stephen Lynch (D-MA), who recently voted in favor of the GOP-led Laken Riley Act, a bill framed as an immigration measure but enables ICE to become the gestapo.” 8
The group has also criticized northeastern Republicans in the U.S. Congress, particularly U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), stating that “Once the youngest woman ever elected to Congress and praised for her centrist credentials, she’s now the House GOP Conference Chair, defending election lies, demonizing vulnerable communities, and dodging the very people she was elected to represent.” 10
The Blue Anchor Project was among the hundreds of Democratic-aligned groups that participated in and organized the June 2025 No Kings protests against the agenda of the second Trump administration. 11 12
