Arizona List is a Super PAC that works to elect pro-abortion Democratic women in Arizona. 1 Arizona List states that this work will bring political change “that is truly needed in our state and will come from thoughtful, progressive elected women.” 2 It also advocates left-of-center legislation on the issues of education, health care, and voting. 3

History

Arizona List was started in 2004 by a group of women who wanted to see more left-wing women elected to office. In 2005, the group was noted in the Arizona Women magazine as a leader in encouraging more women to run for office. Today, the organization runs offices in multiple Arizona cities, has an internship program, and voter outreach programs that all cater to getting left-wing women elected in Arizona. 4

Issue Areas

Abortion

In Spring 2024, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled to make abortion illegal unless the mother’s life was at risk. Arizona List put out a press release in strong opposition to the ruling and advocated that left-wing voters in Arizona to show their opposition. Arizona List supported Arizona for Abortion Access Coalition’s Cheryl Bruce when she stated, ‘”This ruling will put the lives of untold Arizonans at risk and robs us of our most basic rights.”’ 5 The prohibition was repealed later in 2024 by the state legislature. 6

Education

Although Arizona List publicly endorsed Gov. Katie Hobbs (D), the group opposed her state budget plan because it increased the amount of tax dollars being invested in Education Savings Account (ESA) vouchers. These vouchers, given to parents, can be used to help students afford private schools, pay for tutors, and/or pay for online courses. The program in Arizona provides parents with a maximum of 90 percent of the dollars that the state would invest into the student if they went to private school. 7

Women Vote

Women Vote is Arizona List’s outreach program that focuses on Democratic-leaning women. It was started in 2015 as a result of Arizona List estimating that over 250,000 female Democrats were not voting in elections. The program aims to get non-voting women to vote for pro-abortion female Democrats. The program consists of voter education and voter registration done by text, email, mail, and canvassing. 8

Endorsements

Katie Hobbs

Katie Hobbs is the Governor of Arizona. She is a Democrat who built her campaign by advocating for an increase in birth control and abortion access, 9 and increasing tax dollars spent on public transportation and public education infrastructure in Arizona. 10 Arizona List publicly endorsed Hobbs when she ran for Governor. 11

Kris Mayes

Kris Mayes is the Arizona Attorney General. She is a Democrat who advocated for requiring utility companies to increase the amount of energy they produce using wind and solar sources, expanding water regulations in Arizona based on the Clean Water Act, and trying to restrict utility companies from spending their own money on staff bonuses and advertising. Arizona List publicly endorsed Mayes for Attorney General. 12
