The American Mobilization Project is a political action committee (PAC) formed by Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) in 2025 to oppose the policies of the second Trump administration. 1

Background

In June 2025, U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) announced the creation of the American Mobilization Project super PAC to oppose the policies of the second Trump administration. 2 During an interview with left-of-center media outlet The Bulwark, Senator Murphy claimed the new PAC would help “fund protests and mobilization… to save our country.” 1

The Project’s initial spending consists of $400,000 in grants towards left-of -center organizations advocating for youth voter mobilization as well as advocating against cuts to Medicaid. These groups included Georgia Youth Justice Coalition, Project 26 Pennsylvania, and the Committee to Protect Health Care. 2

The Project has announced plans to spend $2 million for the 2026 midterm election cycle. 2

Advocacy

The American Mobilization Project claims to advocate against “Republican election deniers” as well as Supreme Court justices whom it claims are working to “roll back rights for millions of Americans while accepting free luxury vacations and travel on private jets.” 3

The Project has previously advocated in favor of policies supported by Chris Murphy (D-CT) called “Connecticut Values,” such as increased protections for the LGBT state population, increased abortion access, and pro-immigration policies. 3

The Project has announced its support for Ukraine in its war against Russia but claims to favor diplomatic solutions instead of military action. The Project has also claimed to advocate for increased funding for military veterans and their families. 3

The Project supports funding for climate change legislation. 3

The Project supports gun control legislation.  3

The Project supports expanding Medicare, increased government spending on mental health, and efforts to combat the opioid epidemic. 3

The Project supports legislation to encourage domestic manufacturing, including Buy America bills. 3

Leadership

The American Mobilization Project was founded in 2025 by U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), who has served in the U.S. Senate since 2013. 4

Prior to entering the U.S. Senate, Murphy served as a U.S. Representative from Connecticut from 2007 to 2013. In addition, he was previously a member of the Connecticut state Senate from 2003 to 2007 as well as a member of the Connecticut state House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003. 4

American Mobilization PAC

According to Federal Election Commission records, Senator Murphy launched a previous PAC, then known as Murph PAC, in 2009. In the 2024 election cycle, it was renamed to Charter Oak PAC. In 2026, it was renamed to the American Mobilization PAC. As of June 2025, in 2025, the PAC had raised $468,246. 5

Janica Kyriacopoulos is listed as the American Mobilization PAC’s treasurer on Federal Election Commission forms. 5 Kyriacopoulos has served in similar roles at other left-of-center groups, including the New Democratic Coalition Action Fund, 6 At the Table!, 7 and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. 8
