Background
The Arizona Palestine Solidarity Alliance (APSA) is a pro-Palestinian activist network and a fiscally sponsored project of the Alliance for Global Justice (AFGJ), an organizing group that serves as a fiscal sponsor to left-of-center organizations and initiatives. APSA was formed through the Nicaragua Network, an organization that previously supported the communist-aligned Sandinista regime in Nicaragua. 8 2 9 10 11
APSA opposes partnership between the state of Israel and the United States. The organization supports the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign to delegitimize the State of Israel by isolating the country economically through consumer boycotts, business and government withdrawal of investment, and legal sanctions. APSA states it opposes the “militarization of the US border.” 8
APSA previously sponsored a workshop called “BDS and the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel,” which was held on the University of Arizona campus. APSA has also referred to Israel as a “capitalist-based, settler colonial state.” 8 12
