History

Amazonians United traces its origins to a group of Amazon employees in Chicago who petitioned management practices in the area in the spring of 2019. They made social media pages under the name “Amazonians United” and, after connecting with protestors in Sacramento and New York, suggested they use the name as well. 1

Activities

In 2021, Amazonians United members Jonathan Bailey and Ted Miin were interviewed by Marxist media outlet Jacobin about the organization. Bailey, an Amazon worker in Queens, New York, had unsuccessfully ran for the New York City Council as a Democrat. Miin, a member of Amazonians United Chicagoland and an Amazon delivery employee, had filed an unfair labor practice (ULP) charge with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) against Amazon in 2020. Miin alleged his labor rights had been jeopardized when he received warnings from the business for his participation in walkouts over its COVID-19 policies, which the protestors deemed insufficiently protective. 1

Amazonians United and its chapters have advocated radical-left policies and economic models. For instance, on its Facebook page, Amazonians United Chicagoland wrote a caption in defense of the socialistic concept of workplace democracy: “the problem is the existence of management. The solution is worker control.” 6

In 2023, Amazonians United held an online petition against several of Amazon’s practices accompanied by a list of demands. These included a “clear inclement weather policy,” extended breaks, a raise, more paid time off (PTO), and an easier appeals process for deliverers. 7

As of November 2025, Amazonians United’s web domain had expired. 8
